Dear Visitor: The ‘Torah Horoscope’ concept is a work-in-progress. My idea of a Torah Horoscope is parallel to the astrological view; while the solar system, its planets and the signs of the Zodiac are not actually eternal, they serve as a visible semblance of eternity. The configuration of the planets and signs at the moment of birth serves to translate the eternal into the temporal; the identity of an eternal soul that enters earthly reality vibrates with that configuration and that configuration can be studied in the form of a natal horoscope.

If astrology helps us to understand the eternal soul’s identity, then the Torah, which is truly eternal, will certainly do so. In astrology, to understand a person, an eternal soul, we must have a unique horoscope to study. Is there a parallel unique Torah Horoscope, to study? Where does the eternal Torah, like the ‘eternal’ planets and signs of the Zodiac, meet the eternal soul on its day of birth?

Let’s look to the Torah portion reading for that day. Each Torah portion is divisible into seven readings or Aliyot (plural of ‘Aliyah’ or ‘Ascent’), one for each day of the week. Many times we study Torah verses that express stern judgment. It is best to not take these fearful verses as the ‘malefic planets’ of the Torah. The Torah teaches us its ways of wisdom. There is a secret to every verse , to every word, to every letter. That secret is revealed to the eternal soul through its study of its Torah Aliyah; its Torah Horoscope.

The Torah’s oral tradition, the Talmud, discusses the idea that a birthday on a Sunday or a Monday or any other day of the week has significance as an indicator of the personality type that the newborn will express. This teaching from the words of Rabbi Yehoshua ben Levi, is recorded in Tractate Shabbat, 156a (Shabbat 156a). If the day of birth carries so much significance, then surely the Torah portion or Aliyah for that day, all the more, provides a unique narrative for that individual’s spiritual growth and development.

Find and study the Aliyah for a birthday date by using the ‘Torah Horoscope Finder’ search engine. The search returns the Torah’s Parasha for your day’s Aliyah (and calculates the midpoint letter(s) of the Aliyah’s verses.
